Cougar golfers down Ottawa-Glandorf
Van Wert golf information
Cougar golfers traveled to Pike Run Golf Course Monday to play their last regular season Western Buckeye League dual match against the Titans.
In a match where Van Wert was up five strokes through one, they had the tables turned and found themselves down five strokes with four holes to play. Holes number 7 and 8 appeared to break the back of the Titans, who gave up a total of four strokes per hole to provide the winning margin for the Cougars.
Match medalist was Jake Hashbarger of O-G (38), followed closely by Jake Brake with a 39 and Brandon Hernandez and Justin Price with a pair of 40s for Van Wert.
Price’s round highlights included back-to-back birdies on the No. 7 and 8 holes. Rounding out the scoring for the Cougs were Tyler Turnwald, 43; Adam Jurczyk, 44; and Lucas Etzler, 46.
The Van Wert squad will be attempting to take the WBL title on Thursday at Northmoor Golf Course in St. Marys during 18-hole tournament play that accounts for 50 percent of the points available.
