CELINA – Since its inception 50 years ago, the Western Ohio Educational Foundation (WOEF) has awarded Wright State University-Lake Campus students nearly $3 million in academic scholarships.
On Sunday, September 9, the WOEF held its annual Scholarship Award Ceremony in James F. Dicke Hall.
During her remarks, Jane Stuckman, Scholarship Committee co-chair, noted that, in 1965, the Foundation awarded two scholarships for $1,050. This year, 161 scholarships totaling $269,000 were awarded, with awards ranging from a few hundred dollars in book scholarships to full tuition.
“As I think back to the careers our graduates have today and how well they are doing, it is a true testament to the Foundation,” said Lake Campus Dean Bonnie Mathies, as she expressed gratitude for the WOEF commitment over the past five decades.
WOEF President Dee Whitcraft and Scholarship Committee Co-Chair Rick Giere also addressed the students.
A list of the 2012-2013 scholarship recipients can be found at www.wright.edu/lake/prospective/scholarships.html.
