VW volleyball team beats Lima Bath

The Van Wert Lady Cougar volleyball team started slow, but defeated the Bath Lady Wildkittens in three straight games during Western Buckeye League volleyball action on Thursday. Game scores were 27-25, 25-17 and 25-20.

The Cougars are now 7-3 overall on the season and in second place in the WBL with a 3-1 record.

Van Wert returns to action Saturday with a tri-match at Bryan with the Golden Bears and Wayne Trace.

The Cougar junior varsity team also defeated Bath in three games, 23-25, 25-21, and 25-22.

Varsity stats

Serving – Sydney Collins, 18/18 with 1 ace; Cheyenne Handy, 17/17 with 2 aces.

Hitting – Alexis Dowdy, 9 kills; Alexa Dunlap, 8 kills.

Defensive digs – Riley Jones, 12 digs; Dunlap, 11 digs.

Setting – Jones, 23 assists.

The Lady Cougars will also play Monday evening against cross-county rival, the Crestview Lady Knights, at Convoy.
