St. Mark’s, Thrivent feed hungry kids
Information submitted
On Saturday, October 13, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will partner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to pack 20,000 meals to help feed hungry children locally and around the world.
This is the third year St. Mark’s has hosted the food-packing event for Kids Against Hunger. At the cost of 28 cents per meal, it takes $5,600, in addition to many volunteers, to support the October 13 event.
St. Mark’s was blessed to raise nearly $5,000 through its recent Highway 127 Garage Sale event. Coupled with Thrivent Financial’s $1,000 contribution, the packing event was made possible.
The community is invited to participate in the packing on October 13, beginning at 8 a.m. Anyone can participate, even children as young as 4 years old! Come wearing comfortable clothing and shoes; all supplies are provided. Any questions can be directed to Joan Holland at 419.203.9754.
Kids Against Hunger is an international organization that works with volunteers in the United States and Canada to package highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice packets that are distributed to starving children and their families in over 60 countries worldwide.
