4 indicted on drug-related charges

Delphos police information

DELPHOS – Four Delphos residents were indicted by the Allen County Grand Jury in October, according to Delphos Police Chief Kyle Fittro.

Those indicted include the following:

David W. Nelson, 50, was charged with two counts of trafficking in marijuana, both felonies of the fifth degree, and one fourth-degree count of trafficking in marijuana. Nelson was found at his residence on East Suthoff Street and arrested without incident, Chief Fittro noted.

Cynthia A. Kline, 53, was indicted on three counts of trafficking in marijuana and one count of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, all fifth-degree felonies. Kline turned herself in at the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

Dustin W. Lehmkuhle, 23, was charged with one count of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony offense. He was arrested without incident at his place of employment in Delphos.

Jennifer R. Wallace, 29, was charged with one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony offense. She was located at a home in the 500 block of North Main Street and arrested without incident.

All four cases were originally conducted by the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, which is comprised of officers from the Allen and Van Wert County sheriff’s departments, the Lima, Delphos and Shawnee Township police departments, and multiple state and federal law enforcement agencies, which operates in several area counties to combat drugs and major crimes.

Chief Fittro noted that it was standard procedure to investigate crimes, but not immediately arrest those involved. “After search warrants are executed and evidence has been gathered, the investigating officer presents the facts to a Grand Jury,” the police chief said. “The Grand Jury then determines if there is sufficient evidence to formally charge (indict) the suspect with a crime.

“Although this practice may alarm some people, it is standard procedure and does not mean the suspect has ‘gotten away’ with any alleged crime(s),” Chief Fittro added.
