C’view mock election

In an effort to provide students with a hands-on, real world learning experience, Crestview Elementary hosted its first mock election on Tuesday, October 23. Students and staff were given ballots on a number of issues, including the Presidential race. They had to complete all steps of the voting progression: the precinct sign-in process, casting of their ballots, and submitting their ballot for counting. Each homeroom represented a given state, along with the electoral votes associated with that state.   In correlation with the General Election, students studied the Electoral College, Presidential candidates, and the process for electing the highest office of the executive branch; this culminated with the mock election. Crestview Elementary would like to thank the Van Wert County Board of Elections for providing “voters” with a polling booth, ballots, and “I love voting” stickers.  With their help, Crestview was able to provide students with a real-world simulation. Shown is Crestview Elementary student Tiffany Thompson as she prepares to cast her ballot. (Crestview photo)
