YMCA fall sports champs announced

The YMCA of Van Wert County recently ended its fall sports season and, with that, comes final games, tournaments and league champs.

The Flag Football 6-7 age division was won by the Steelers, coached by Bob Stegaman. The team roster included Case Stegaman, Grant Glossett, Cale Winans, Corbin Evans, Nicholas Evans, Trey Evans, Maxwell Mendez and Mason Doster.

The 8 and older flag football teams created a fundamentals league, where all kids and coaches practiced and played together.

The 6-7 year old soccer champions were the Tornados, coached by Matt Bockrath.  The team roster included Austin Bockrath, Xavier Leal, Reece Berryman, Josh Hohman, Zoe Bladen, Sarah Verville, Emma Wallace, Brittany Granger, Landon Adams, Natalie Hauter, and Lillia Blade.

The 8-12 year old soccer champion was the Galaxy, coached by Anson Moody. The team roster included Landon Moody, Ryan Hollingsworth, Katie Able, Damon McCracken, Colton McCloud, Christian Sheets, Daniel Miller, Arnez Miller, Reanna Chancy, Ethan Best, and Josh Gehle.

The girls’ volleyball season also ended.  The 6-9 year old league champs were the Bumpers, coached by Todd Wallace. Team members included Bailee Wallace, Zoe Coleman, Kelta Cowan, Gracie Price, Jaylyn Rickard, Sophia Pimpas, Emily Greulach, Shea Nowak, Myia Etzler, Payton Nagel, Makenna Nagel.

The 10-12 year old girls’ volleyball league was won by the Knights, coached by Terika Miller. This team’s roster included Codi Miller, Morgan Miller, Erin Miller, Kayllie Wolford, Lydia Saylor, Hannah Kraner, Lilian Hittle, Elise Klausing, and Avery McCoy.

Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA can be found by calling 419.238.0443 or visiting the YMCA website at www.vwymca.org. Registration for the “Bitty Ballers” basketball league for boys and girls 4 years old through second grade is now through December 1. Also, a mini-holiday swim session registration will be held November 19-23, with the session starting on November 26.
