David L. Flanders

David L. Flanders, 97, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, in Akron.

He was born September 5, 1915, in Battle Creek, Mich., the son of the late Oscar H. and Hazel D. (Frey) Flanders. On May 9, 1942, in Akron, he married Mary E. (Frederick) Flanders, who survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Julianne (Bruce) Kennedy of Van Wert, Marybeth (Michael) Lauber of Boston, Mass., and Karen (Steve) Schweizer of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at The First Congregational Church of Akron, 292 E. Market St. Private burial will be in Copley Township Cemetery in Copley.

There will be no calling hours.

Preferred memorials: The First Congregational Church of Akron, Akron General Medical Center or the University of Akron.
