Erwin Jacob Gehres

Erwin Jacob Gehres, 103, of Wren, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born Mary 15, 1909, in Wren, the son of the late Otto and Iona Caroline (Kreischer) Gehres. On February 10, 1932, he married Margaret Marcile (Kreischer) Gehres, who preceded him in death on November 19, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Roderic (Janis) Gehres of Athens; three daughters, Bonnie Stearns of Bowling Green, Alice Ann Curtis of Pasadena, Calif., and Darla (Robert) Flory of Apple Creek; two brothers, Marlin (Caroline) Gehres of Wren and Floyd (Margaret) Gehres of Sun City Center, Fla.; two sisters, Martha E. Poling of Vann Wert and Thelma Gehres of St. Joseph, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and a special nephew.

Two brothers, Donald Gehres and Albert Gehres; two sisters, Eileen Gehres and Elsie Lorena Gehres; and a grandchild, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in America in rural Van Wert County, with Pastor Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 11 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: St. Paul’s Church, Wren EMS or the Wren Historical Society.
