Information submitted

MENDON — The 14th annual Mendon Festival of Trees and Christmas Walk will be held Friday, Saturday, December 7-8, in downtown Mendon. Unless otherwise noted, hours for the festival are 6-9 p.m. Friday, and 1-5:30 p.m. Saturday.

This Christmas tree, decorated by the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, is just one of more than 100 trees scheduled to be auctioned off during Mendon's Festival of Trees event in early December. (photo submitted)

This year’s theme is “A Town Hall Christmas,” and a number of activities have been scheduled to reflect that theme.

Activities that take both days include the Festival of Trees, that features more than 100 decorated Christmas trees on display at the Mendon Town Hall. Admission is $1 a person and includes complimentary refreshments. Those age 12 and under get in free, when accompanied by an adult.

Angel and Nativity displays will also be on display at Mendon First Church of God and there will be a harpist playing there on Friday evening, while camels, sheep and donkeys are some of the animals to be seen at Bethlehem Stable, located in the old Mendon Firehouse. The animals will be there from 5-9 p.m. Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday.

What’s Christmas without Santa Claus? Kids can visit with Santa at Doc Holiday’s Auto Emporium from 7-9 p.m. Friday, and from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday at Santa’s House downtown.

On Saturday only, there will be a Family Craft Day at Mendon United Methodist Church and horse-drawn carriage rides from 1-5 p.m. Saturday that will begin and end at the Mendon Town Hall.

A Holiday Extravaganza is planned at the old Mendon Farm Store from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Featured will be displays of Longaberger baskets, Thirty-One Gifts and other vendors.
