Village sets ‘Christmas in Park’ event

Information submitted

WILLSHIRE — “Christmas in the Park” in the village of Willshire is quickly approaching and area residents should plan now to bring their families and friends to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.

This event is a great way to prepare for and celebrate the season of Christmas. “Christmas in the Park” will be held at the village park in Willshire on Sunday, December 9, from 4-7 p.m. The Willshire Lions Club is sponsoring the event, with assistance from many local businesses and organizations.

As people stroll through the park, they will see a live Nativity and luminaries lighting the pathway and will be able to take part in several activities, including carriage rides, cookie decorating, and stringing foods for the birds to enjoy.

Those who attend will also hear beautiful Christmas music and be able to listen to readings of favorite holiday stories. They will also be able to enjoy popcorn and hot chocolate, as well as homemade soups, sandwiches, and cookies.

Luminaries will also be lighting the pathway in the park on December 9 for “Christmas in the Park,” and area residents can memorialize or honor someone dear to them during this time.  A luminary can be lighted for someone special during the luminary lighting ceremony that will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.  Names will be added to the luminaries that are sponsored and local residents will have the opportunity to light that luminary, if they so choose. Luminaries can be sponsored for $5 each, with proceeds going to support local projects. Send luminary information to: Willshire Lions Club, P.O. Box 274, Willshire, OH 45898 by Thursday, December 6. Include the name of the person being honored or memorialized, as well as the name of the person who will light the luminary.  The Lions Club will have a representative available to light a luminary, if needed.
