First Financial offers WSU scholarship

WOEF information

CELINA — The Western Ohio Educational Foundation (WOEF) is celebrating its 50th anniversary of the foundation, which was organized by a group of forward-thinking citizens in response to a growing need for Auglaize, Darke, Mercer and Van Wert county residents to have access to college instruction. The foundation secured the funding to build and operate an institution of higher education and, after 50 years, the Lake Campus of Wright State University is the only institution of higher education in west central Ohio.

For five decades, WOEF has remained strongly committed to the success of the Lake Campus.

Since 1965, WOEF has awarded more than $2.7 million in scholarships to Lake Campus students while providing unwavering financial support for student programs and activities. The board has spearheaded various fundraising campaigns securing the land to build the academic buildings, the first student housing unit, and other renovations throughout the last 50 years.

First Financial Bank supports the Lake Campus Scholarship Program by once again offering a $1,000 scholarship award to a graduating senior from Auglaize, Mercer, Paulding, or Van Wert counties who is enrolled in college prep courses and has a GPA of 3.0 or above. First Financial is a community-centered bank and they actively contribute to organizations that provide financial literacy and educational support.

All the scholarships provided through the Western Ohio Educational Foundation can be found online at http://www.wright.edu/lake/scholarships.

The 2013-2014 scholarship application period is open until February 15 and a complete listing can be found on this page.
