Local OSHP post gets new sergeant

COLUMBUS – The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has a new assistant post commander with the promotion of Trooper Rodney E. Kiefer to the rank of sergeant by Patrol Superintendent Colonel John Born during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Academy.
Sergeant Kiefer will transfer from his current assignment at the Training Academy.
The new sergeant began his Patrol career in June 2005 as a member of the 145th Academy Class. He earned his commission in January of the following year and was assigned to the Wapakoneta Post. In July 2011, Sergeant Kiefer transferred to his most recent assignment at the Training Academy.
Sergeant Kiefer resides in St. Marys with his wife, Melissa. They have two children: Aiden, 9; and Claire, 6.
