Foundation gives more than $1 million

The Van Wert County Foundation Board of Trustees held its semiannual meeting December 11. Executive Secretary Larry L. Wendel reported the following actions.
In 2012, grants to various agencies, schools and college scholarships totaled over $1 million.
The following new donor funds were also accepted and approved:
- Barbara L. Litterer Memorial Fund
- Village of Venedocia Memorial Park Fund
- Van Wert Airport Authority Event Donor Advised Fund
- Everett and Betty Jones Memorial Fund
- Carl Etzler Donor Advised Fund
- Van Wert City Parks Donor Advised Fund
- Kathleen Scott Kaduk Memorial Scholarship Fund
- William Howard Jones Memorial Fund
- Van Wert Rabbit Barn Donor Advised Fund
- Van Wert YWCA Memorial Endowment Fund
- Hirn Lincolnview Community Music Fund
- Danielle Fetzer Donor Advised Fund
- Gaylord Leslie Trust Fund
New donor funds and additions to existing funds will total approximately $1.5 million.
The armory renovation project will be underway early in 2013. Plans for state approval are being prepared and will be submitted later this month. Preliminary clean up and demolition has been completed.
The trustees also reviewed plans for a proposed aquatic center in Van Wert and approved support for this project.
The trustees thanked the many donors who have left funds to The Foundation, noting that it is these funds and the income generated that makes it possible for The Foundation to affect the lives of literally thousands of individuals in this area.
Due to The Foundation being a 501(c)(3) public charity, all donations provide the donor with the maximum tax credit allowed by law.
