Mary E. Rauch
Mary E. Rauch, 92, a resident of Otterbein of Cridersville and formerly of Lima and Jonestown in Van Wert County, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima with her family by her side.
She was born February 17, 1920, in Putnam County, near Miller City, the daughter of the late Claude E. and Nora N. (Mullet) Stuber. On March 14, 1942, she married Clyde E. “Tiny” Rauch, who preceded her in death on February 11, 2001.
Mrs. Rauch was a member of Shawnee Alliance Church and had formerly been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a teacher of Child Evangelism Fellowship. She loved gardening at her homes in Jamestown and Lima, and her Bible study groups. She was a member of the Lima Men’s Garden Club and enjoyed the flower and garden shows at the Van Wert and Allen County fairs, where she was named the outstanding gardener.
Survivors include four children, Bonnie J. (Lee E.) McCullough of Wheaton, Ill., E. Suzanne Hall of Van Wert, Clyde R. (Kay E.) Rauch of Lima and Dr. Gordon H. (Connie J.) Rauch of Cridersville; 13 grandchildren, Lori (Todd) Fedele of Aurora, Ill., Amy Whittinghall of Wheaton, Ill., Stacia (Shad) Springer of Van Wert, Stephen (Teri) Hall of Oldsmar, Fla., Stuart (Jessica) Hall of Lansing, Mich., Stephanie Hall of Van Wert, Aaron (Sara) Rauch of Chattanooga, Tenn., Caleb Rauch and Abigail Rauch, both of Lima, Justin (Lindsey) Rauch of Columbus, Emily Rauch of Covington, Ky., Tyler (Aya) Rauch and Evan Rauch, both of Lima; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith (Dick) Lapish of Lehigh Acres, Fla., one brother, David (Betty Lou) Stuber of Fremont; and a sister-in-law, Frances Stuber of Cridersville.
Six siblings, Paul and Leon Stuber, Grace Rauch, Allene Luginbuhl, Richard “Dick” Stuber and Mille Lou Stuber, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with the Rev. Daniel Messner officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery north of Mendon.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, December 22, at the funeral home.
