Mildred A. (Evans) Kreischer

Mildred A. (Evans) Kreischer, 86, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012, at the Sharonbrooke Assisted Living facility in Newark.

She was born December 27, 1925, in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Duvall) Evans. On October 24, 1947, she married Harold R. Dunifon and they had three children together. Harold preceded her in death on February 8, 1963. On June 17, 1966, she married Dr. Joseph R. Kreischer, who also preceded her in death, on December 22, 1968.

Surviving are two children, Thomas (Lynne) Dunifon of Whitehouse and Roger (Judy) Dunifon of Granville; five grandchildren, Aaron (Sara) Dunifon, Craig (Angela) Dunlap, Travis (Katie) Dunlap, and Jeffrey and Carolyn Dunifon; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph (Judith) Evans of Ohio City and Wayne (Phyllis) Evans of Yoder, Ind.; and three sisters, Annabel Holland and Lois Linser, both of Van Wert, and Ruth (Lloyd) Etzler of Convoy.

A daughter, Susan (Tim) Dunlap; and one brother, Home Evans, also preceded her in death.

Mildred belonged to First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and Mature Years Group. She was also a member of the Tri County Doll Club, the Red Hat Club, the former Van Wert Woman’s Club and the Ridge Progressive Club. She was a 1943 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and a 1946 graduate of Lima Memorial School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse  and worked for 40 years at Van Wert County Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at First United Methodist Church, with Senior Pastor Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials: First United Methodist Church in Van Wert or the American Cancer Society.
