Cougar wrestlers compete in Dayton

DAYTON – The Van Wert wrestling team finished 38th out of 52 teams at the highly competitive Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Tournament over the weekend.

No Cougar won a title in his weight class, with the best performances 3-2 records compiled by three Van Wert wrestlers: Terrin Contreras at 285 pounds, Jordan Daniels at 170 pounds and Colten Royer at 160 pounds. The Cougars also had to give up four matches by voids because there wasn’t a wrestler on the team to compete in those weight classes.

The following are individual results for Van Wert wrestlers:

  • 106 pounds – Void
  • 113 pounds – Void
  • 120 pounds – Void
  • 126 pounds – Andy Hammond, 0-2.
  • 132 pounds – Jacob Crisenbery, 0-2.
  • 138 pounds – Quinton Rutkowsky, 1-2.
  • 145 pounds – Ryan Stoller, 0-2.
  • 152 pounds – Daniel Thompson, 2-2.
  • 160 pounds – Colten Royer, 3-2 (2 pins).
  • 170 pounds – Jordan Daniels, 3-2.
  • 182 pounds – Gabe Hill, 0-2.
  • 195 pounds – Void.
  • 220 pounds – Zach Thomas, 2-2.
  • 285 pounds – Terrin Contreras, 3-2 (2 pins).
