School walk-through

VWPD WALK-THROUGH — A number of officers from the Van Wert Police Department, led by city DARE Officer Greg Blackmore (third from left) conducted walk-throughs of the Van Wert High School-Middle School complex and Van Wert Elementary School on Thursday to get officers familiarized with the buildings and to identify places where intruders could hide or get into the buildings. The walk-throughs were part of an increased emphasis on building security in the Van Wert City Schools following the tragic shootings that killed 20 first-graders at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
