Staff & others reports
ANDERSON, Ind. — A Van Wert man was killed while driving a semi-tractor truck on Interstate 69 near Anderson, Ind., on Wednesday morning.
According to the Muncie Star Press newspaper, Gary J. Knott, 56, was driving a semi north on I-69 when he apparently lost control of the tractor-trailer rig and rear-ended another semi at approximately 7:50 a.m. Wednesday (Mr. Knottās obituary is on the Obituaries page).
The crash scattered tetra alkyl ammonia chloride, an asphalt related chemical, onto the highway, where it froze, resulting in the need to dispatch a hazardous material cleanup crew to the accident site. The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-69 for approximately 10 hours.
