CHS students return to school

By Trevor Roop
After coming back from Christmas to a two day school week, which included winter homecoming, the students at CHS have now returned to the regular routine of classes and athletics. But before beginning their first full week, Ms. Gasser and the FCCLA held a Christmas party that was postponed due to the cancellation before break.
“We planned on having our party the Friday before break, but since school was cancelled, we held it on Friday the 4th. With the FCCLA money, and FFA donations, we were able to hold a Christmas party for Mrs. Wells’ elementary handicapped classroom,” said FCCLA advisor Miss Gasser. The organization already had gifts wrapped for the students, and with the money they had, they were able to take the students shopping to get gifts for their family members. Junior Kali Coleman loved this, saying, “This was a great way for us to help out people who need it in the elementary. The kids loved going shopping to get presents for their families, and the look on their faces were priceless when they opened their presents. It was great to be able to do this for Christmas.”
Along with the high school teams, the middle school boys’ and girls’ teams are in full swing with their seasons. The 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams have gotten off to a fast start, with the 8th grade holding an 8-1 record, and the 7th grade boys a 2-7 record. “Even though we don’t have the best record, we are getting better each game. We are learning to play together, and we will be better by the end of the year,” said 7th grade starter Brett Schumm.
The 7th and 8th grade girls both started their seasons on a good note. The 7th grade girls began their season with an impressive 6-1 record. The 8th grade girls, playing their last season of middle school basketball, host a record of 4-3 up to this point. “This year has been fun so far. We are just trying to play our best and be good leaders for the 7th graders,” said 8th grade player Mary Hansard.
With Crestview back in action, continue to look for students out and about in athletics and in other organizations.
