Knights get easy win over Lincolnview

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights got out early and just kept going as they defeated cross-county rival Lincolnview 70-41 in a Northwest Conference boys’ basketball game at Crestview on Friday.

The Knights got out to a 13-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back. The score was 42-14 at the half and Crestview coasted the rest of the way, using its reserves in the final quarter. The third quarter score was 53-28.

With the win, the Knights are 9-1 overall and 2-1 in the NWC. Lincolnview falls to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Tyson Bolenbaugh led all scorers with 19 points for Crestview, while Damian Helm added 14 points and Cam Etzler scored 9 for the Knights. Kyle Williams was the Lancers’ top scorer with 16 points, while Justis Dowdy added 11 points and Kade Carey scored 8 for Lincolnview.

Crestview shot 61.9 percent from two-point range (26 of 42) and was 1 of 5 in three-point attempts (20 percent). The Lancers hit 8 of 20 two-point attempts (40 percent) and were 6 of 13 from beyond the arc (46.2 percent).

The Knights dominated on the boards, bringing down 35 rebounds, 14 of those on the offensive end, while Lincolnview had a total of 8, two of those on the offensive end of the floor. Crestview had seven turnovers, to nine for the Lancers.

In the first game of the night, the Lincolnview junior varsity team edged the Knights 30-29.
