Rains cause flooding, colder air coming?

Van Wert independent

And the rains came. And kept coming. Van Wert County Emergency Management Director Rick McCoy said Van Wert County received 3.5 inches over the weekend, from Friday through Sunday.

Flooding has also been reported in areas of the county — particularly in the southwest portion — with Ohio 49 and U.S. 33 in the Willshire area closed due to high water. The St. Marys River is currently at 21.7 feet and rising, with flood level 17 feet. The river is expected to crest early Wednesday at 22.7 feet.

Following the rains, the weather turned frosty and could get even more so by next week. A high of 29 is forecast for today, while tomorrow’s is expected to be 30, with a low of 20. Wednesday’s high will be 35, with a low of 26, while Thursday’s high is predicted at 31, with a low of 31, and Friday should see a high of 35 and a low of 25.

The real cold could hit next week if current weather patterns area unchanged, McCoy said, predicting that lows could get down to well below zero if the frigid air comes in as expected.
