YMCA partners with FW Mad Ants
Information submitted
The YMCA of Van Wert County is partnering with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for Van Wert YMCA Mad Ants Night on Friday, February 8, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Those who buy tickets for this game through the Y or by calling Garrett Martz at the Mad Ants Office at 260.469.4667, extension 107, will get discounted tickets: $8 for upper level sideline and $15 for lower level; and a free basketball clinic with Mad Ants players and coaches on Wednesday, January 23, at the YMCA of Van Wert County. A portion of each ticket sold will also be contributed back to the Van Wert Y.

The free basketball clinic for those who buy tickets will include any children from 4 years old to sixth grade, who can participate from 6-7 p.m. The Mad Ants coaching staff will highlight Luke Harangody and will run Y-ball players through a series of basketball drills and be available for autographs/pictures afterward.
Harangody, current Mad Ants star and 2007-08 “Big East Player of the Year” during his time at Notre Dame, will be in attendance for the Van Wert YMCA clinic barring an NBA call-up between now and then.
Harangody is no stranger to the NBA, having played 70 games in the big leagues, some for the Boston Celtics and most recently finishing last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Harangody was recently acquired by the Mad Ants in late December, where he has been on fire, averaging 18.8 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. The Mad Ants have been on a tear, going on a seven game winning streak with Harangody in the lineup.
Ticket orders must be placed by Tuesday, January 22, in order to get these great deals. Information about this and other programs available at the Y can be found by calling 419.238.0443, visiting the YM website at www.vwymca.org or emailing mitch@vwymca.org.
Contact the Van Wert YMCA or stop by the front desk to find out how local youth basketball players can attend the Mad Ants clinic on January 23.
The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by The Van Wert County Foundation and United Way.
