Chinese students to visit Van Wert
Information submitted
GLO (Grow, Learn, Overseas) Homestay, based in Fallbrook, Calif., has made a Van Wert connection to arrange for 12 individuals from China to visit the United States for three weeks.
Four boys and eight girls will be staying in local homes to experience American living for the first time in their lives. Aaron Burns, a native of Van Wert who has lived in China for eight years, is coordinating this venture.
During the students’ three-week stay, they will be meeting Van Wert Mayor Don Farmer, touring the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio, visiting area businesses, schools, colleges and getting a taste of Midwest living.
Their plans also include a visit to Chicago, driving to Amish Country in eastern Ohio, going to the Creation Museum near Cincinnati, and attending a Winter Retreat Camp in Michigan.
Area residents are invited to come out and welcome the Chinese delegation on their very first visit to the U.S. at 5 p.m. Friday, January 25, in the parking lot of Liberty Baptist Church, 501 E. Third St. in Van Wert.
The public is also welcome to attend Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday, February 3, at 10:45 am for a special “China Focus” service to hear testimonies and singing from the Chinese guests.
