George Sterling

George Sterling, 77, of Delphos, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born June 10, 1935, in Delphos, the son of the late Charles and Jessie (Follas) Sterling. He married Fairy (Etta) Cross, who preceded him in death on January 16, 2013.

Survivors include two sons, Max Douglas Sterling of Dayton and Donald Anthony Sterling of St. Marys; two brothers, Harold “Nick” (Phyllis) Sterling and Lonnie (Jeannette) Sterling of Delphos, a sister, Mary (Ed) Rigdon of Venedocia; a stepson, Richard (Becky) Auer of Delphos; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Vernon, Frank, Lester, Lewis, and Ray Sterling; a stepson, Gary Auer; and a stepdaughter, Sue Ann Kohorst, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, January 26, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with Pastor Wayne Prater officiating. The Delphos Veterans Council will also perform military rites Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
