Robert Eugene Rickard

Robert Eugene Rickard, 90, of Van Wert, died at 5:23 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 11, 1922, in Oho City, the son of the late Winfield and Mary Catherine (Mottinger) Rickard. On January 4, 1949, he married Ruth (Kittle) Rickard, who preceded him in death on May 1, 1972.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Bob) Carroll and Debbie (Tony) Krick, both of Van Wert; a son, Robert Edward Rickard of Lima; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A brother, Doyt Rickard; and five sisters, Mabel Urton, Voyla Fleming, Cleo Irene Kiracofe, Marcile Harris and Lela Mae Wendel, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert.
