Knight boys get win over Continental

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights overcame a sluggish start to defeat Continental 56-34 in a non-league game played on Saturday.

Connor Lautzenheiser led Crestview with 16 points, while Tyson Bolenbaugh added 10 points for the Knights. No Pirates player was in double figures on the night, although Justin Halliwell and Chaz Slattman each had 8 points for Continental.

Crestview trailed by a basket, 10-8, at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Pirates 17-6 in the second quarter to lead by nine points, 25-16, at the half. The Knights extended their lead to 20, 44-24, by the end of the third quarter and then played Continental to a standstill in a 12-10 final period to earn the win.

Crestview made 15 of 30 shots from the field (50 percent), including 8 of 17 from three-point range (47.1 percent). The Knights were 18 of 25 from the free-throw line (72 percent). The Pirates were 12 of 32 from the field (37.5 percent), including 1 of 9 from beyond the arc (11.1 percent). Continental made 9 of 11 free throws in the game (81.8 percent).

Both teams had 14 rebounds in the game, while Crestview had fewer turnovers, 12-19, than the Pirates. The Knights led in steals, 8-4, and also had two blocked shots, to none for Continental.

With the win, Crestview is now 13-2 overall on the season.
