Lady Lancers clobber Parkway girls

The Lincolnview girls’ basketball team dominated Parkway en route to a 71-49 non-conference victory on Saturday. The Lady Lancers got out to a 19-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Lincolnview led by 11 points, 31-20, at the half, before going on a 25-19 fun in the third quarter to take a 17-point lead heading into the final stanza. The Lancers took the fourth quarter, 15-10, for the victory.

Lincolnview had three players in double figures, led by Katie Dye’s 24 points. Julia Thatcher added 14 points, while junior Christine Stemen scored 11 points for the Lancers. Parkway was led in scoring by Sierra Fent, who had 12 points on the night. Kylie Snyder and Raegan Brandstetter added 9 points apiece for the Lady Panthers.

Lincolnview made 26 of 56 field goal attempts (46.4 percent), including 2 of 12 three-point shots (16.7 percent). The Lancers were 17 of 29 (58.6 percent) from the free-throw line.

Parkway canned 16 of 43 from the field (37.2 percent), including 1 of 9 (11.1 percent), from three-point range. The Panthers were 16 of 26 (61.5 percent) from the charity stripe.

The two teams were nearly even in rebounding, but the Lancers had the edge, 32-31, over Parkway. Lincolnview had fewer turnovers, 9-17, than the Panthers.

With the win, the Lancers are now 13-4 overall, while Parkway falls to 2-14 on the year.
