Lady Knights get win over Antwerp

The Crestview Lady Knights got out quickly and maintained their consistency to get an easy 49-36 win over Antwerp in a non-conference game played Tuesday at Crestview.

The Knights are now 16-1 overall, while Antwerp falls to 3-14 on the season.

Crestview was led by Emily Bauer’s 15 points, while Lindsey Motycka added 12 points and Mackenzie Riggenbach and Terra Crowle each scored 8 points for the Lady Knights. Antwerp’s Alexis Jones led all scorers with 17 points, but was the only Lady Archer in double figures.

Crestview led by three points, 11-8, at the end of the first quarter and stretched that to 10, 23-13, at the half with a 12-5 second-quarter run. Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter, while the Knights went on a 15-12 run in the final stanza to earn the victory.

Crestview was 18 of 42 from field goal range (42.9 percent), including making 4 of 15 three-point attempts (26.7 percent). The Lady Knights canned a fantastic 9 of 10 from the free-throw line (90 percent). The Archers made 12 of 25 field goal attempts (48 percent), including 3 of 9 from three-point range (33.3 percent). Antwerp was 9 of 14 from the charity stripe (64.3 percent).

Crestview dominated the boards, bringing down 21 rebounds to 11 for the Archers. In fact, the Knights had as many offensive boards as Antwerp had total rebounds. Crestview had 13 assists to 4 for the Archers and also had fewer turnovers, 10-16, than Antwerp. The Knight defense earned 12 steals in the game, compared to four steals for the Archers.

Crestview will next play at home on Thursday in a Northwest Conference match-up against the Allen East Lady Mustangs.
