Paul H. Baumgarte

Paul H. Baumgarte, 91, of Delphos, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Delphos.

He was born July 15, 1921, in Landeck, the son of the late Raymond and Sadie (Clinger) Baumgarte. On June 24, 1945, he married Betty (Byrd) Baumgarte, who preceded him in death in October 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Denis (Beverly) Baumgarte of Batavia, N.Y., and David (Julia) Baumgarte of Mystic, Conn.; two daughters, Carol Baumgarte of Delphos and Linda (Shawn) Chesley of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Jennings, with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Delphos Veterans Council and Fort Jennings American Legion post. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fort Jennings.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, February 1, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 5:30 Thursday evening, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Wounded Warriors or a charity of donor’s choice.
