Fundraiser set for local leukemia victim

A quarter auction is being held for local leukemia victim Alysha Mays. The fundraiser will be held Sunday, February 17, starting at 1:30 p.m., in the Wayne Trace High School cafeteria.

Mays, 21, a hair stylist at SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, located in the Van Wert Walmart store, was diagnosed in November with leukemia. The woman, who also has a 4-year-old son, Aydin, is currently in remission, but is still undergoing treatment. Friends are hoping the fundraiser will help Mays with medical bills and living expenses.

A number of vendors will be also participating in the fundraiser and there will be refreshments served for a donation. Doors open at 12:30 that afternoon.
