Dr. Dean E. Ley

Dr. Dean E. Ley, 88, of Syracuse, Ind., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center in Warsaw, Ind.

He was born February 4, 1925, in Middle Point, the son of the late Philip and Clara (Johnson) Ley. On June 12, 1949, he married Doris (Edwards) Ley, who survives in Syracuse.

Other survivors include a son, Devin K. (Mischele) Ley of Elkhart, Ind.

Three brothers, Eugene, Gordon and Watson Ley, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, where graveside military rites will be performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Children’s Fund at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert.
