DAR essay contest winner named

The Isaac Van Wert Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution announced that Hannah Baker of Continental High School is the 2013 winner of the Good Citizen Essay Contest.

Area participants in this year’s Good Citizen Contest were Jesse Wilson of Antwerp High School, Hannah Baker of Continental High School, Mekale Clifton of Crestview High School, Haley McAbee of Lincolnview High School, Katelyn Kraner of Parkway High School, Samantha Owens of Paulding High School, Alexander Bair of Van Wert High School, and Nathan Holtsberry of Wayne Trace High School.

The Isaac Van Wart Chapter appreciates these young people who have been chosen by their schools to enter this contest, and for their interest in America, their patriotism, and their achievements in their respective high schools.

Baker received a check for $50 and the “Madonna of the Trail” trophy to be kept at her high school for 2013.
