Charlene Joyce (Sinning) Spoor

Charlene Joyce (Sinning) Spoor, 77, of Van Wert, died at 8:17 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, peacefully at her home.

She was born December 25, 1935, to the late Gustave William and Della Cynthia (McCaskey) Sinning. She was born in Mountain Grove, Mo., and moved to Ohio in 1950. She married William E. Spoor Jr. on May 24, 1952, at the Lutheran Church in Van Wert, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1991.

Survivors include five children, William E. Spoor III, Debrah C. (Michael) Baxter, Linda L. Spoor, Rickey L. Spoor and Brenda R. (Darren) Watkins; three brothers, Floyd, James and Joe (Gale) Sinning; two sisters, Beatrice (Bud) Schmitt and Darlene Ditto; nine grandchildren, William E. Spoor IV, Jeremy (Chantal) Spoor, Trisha (David) Rager, David Baxter, Thomas (Sierra) Spoor, Joy (Michael) Plumley, Cyle (Bridget) Wilkinson, and Jessica and Amanda Watkins; nine great-grandchildren, Laine, Grace and Emma Spoor, Trinity and Will Rager, Mason and Annaston Plumley and Cayden and Mya Wilkinson; also many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Her mother-in-law, Roa A. (Dickson) Spoor; and father-in-law, William E. Spoor Sr.; five brothers, Elmer, Earl, Elvin, Francis and Robert Sinning; three sisters, Ella, Eunice and Pearl Sinning; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and a daughter-in-law, Christina A. (Jenkins) Spoor, also preceded her in death.

Charlene was part owner, with her husband, of W.E. Spoor Contractors, which was originally started in 1957. Other than her five children and the family business keeping her busy, she enjoyed trapshooting, playing Bingo, instant lottery tickets, and was a great, old-fashioned cook. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Private graveside funeral services will be conducted at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
