Last Friday students enjoyed their first snow day since Christmas break. Many students enjoyed sleeping in and relaxing on Friday morning. Students also anticipate tomorrow’s teacher in-service as a time to either catch up on sleep or enjoy time with friends. “Since we didn’t have school on Friday, I hung out with my friends and watched movies,” sophomore Kaitlyn Hallfeldt said.

Also last Friday night, the boys played in their last regular season game against Ada at home. They won with a score of 70 to 33. The boys will play in their first tournament game on Friday night at Van Wert High School. “My goals for tournament are to play to our full potential as a team, and make it past districts,” junior Isaiah Simerman said.

The girls beat St. John’s in their first tournament game and will advance to play against Kalida in their next game.

Buckeye Boys and Girls State is held every year to give students, who show an interest in government, a chance to live in a stimulated town. The American Legion selects students to attend this each year. This year the attendants who will be attending Boys State are juniors Scott Miller, Tanner Skelton, Daniel Joseph, Copsey Bogle, and Jon Young. The attendants for Girls State are juniors Chloe Lautzenheiser, Sophie Smith, and Emily Adams, with Sarah Klinger as the alternate. “I’m looking forward to learning about the state government and meeting new people,” junior Scott Miller said.
