Joe Yakos

Joe Yakos, 91, of Van Wert, died at 9:54 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born June 23, 1921, in Van Wert, the son of the late Joe and Mary (Kubik) Yakos. On November 20, 1948, he married Jennie (Motycka) Yakos, who preceded him in death in 2011.

Joe was a farmer in Ridge Township.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Warren) Madden of Kennesaw, Ga.; one sister, Anne Maxson-Boudreaux of Easley, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Mary Motycka of Napoleon; and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Frank and John Yakos, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
