Patriots group sets candidates’ night
Heart Land Patriots news
The Heart Land Patriots’ annual Spring Candidates’ Night, leading up to the May 7 Primary Election, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the Fireside Room of the Family Life Center at Trinity Friends Church, 605 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert.
All City Council seats, City Council president, and Van Wert city treasurer positions are on the ballot this spring. While current First and Second Ward councilmen are running unopposed, the remainder of the City Council seats are up for grabs.
In addition, there is a contested primary race to replace retiring Council President Gary Corcoran, as well as a candidate for Van Wert treasurer.
Most candidates have indicated their intent to be at the meeting to share a brief outline of their qualifications, experience, and vision for the city moving forward. In addition to hearing from the candidates, citizens attending the meeting will have an opportunity to quiz each candidate on key issues currently facing the city.
This year’s Candidates Night has been moved from the previously advertised Youth Room to the more intimate and friendly confines of the Fireside Room, which was filled to overflowing this past Tuesday evening to hear Sheriff Tom Riggenbach.
Tuesday night’s meeting concludes a very busy Patriot schedule in March, which will also include the Saturday, March 16, screening of the film Fracknation in Calvary Evangelical Church’s main auditorium at 2 p.m.
For more information about either the Fracknation showing, which is free to the public, or the Candidates Night, call the Rev. Keith Stoller at 419.968.2869.
