Fern Eloise Book

Fern Eloise Book, 92, of Van Wert, died at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born June 17, 1920, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Ira Asa and Mabel L. (Shafer) Redlinger. She first married Charles W. Debolt, who preceded her in death on August 6, 1977. On August 11, 1979, she married the Rev. Rea Book, who died September 12, 2009.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl J. (Chris) Knapp of Tucson, Ariz., Linda (Ron) Miller of Delphos and Elaine (Don) Heindel of Willshire; eight grandchildren, Charlie Leighner, James Leighner, Ginny Schaadt, Ty Cortney, Trey Cortney, Corey Heindel, Andrew Heindel and Joe Heindel; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Joyce I. Leighner, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Book had been employed by Central Insurance Company and was also a homemaker. She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert and Zion United Brethren Church and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert. She was a 1938 graduate of Van Wert High School.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the funeral home.
