Martha Koontz

Martha Koontz, 96, of Rockford, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, where she had been a patient.

She was born March 11, 1917, in Willshire, the daughter of the late Odus Lee and Mary Hazel (Owens) Byer. On April 8, 1939, she married Alan Koontz, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2005.

Survivors include a son, Charles (Shari) Koontz of Rockford; one daughter, Claudia Grace (Ray) Noel of Greenville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, March 30, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: State of the Heart Hospice or Rockford United Methodist Church.
