WSU-LC student given book scholarship

WOEF Board news

CELINA — For over 50 years, the Western Ohio Educational Foundation (WOEF) has responded to the educational needs of residents in Auglaize, Darke, Mercer and Van Wert counties by providing the resources to allow residents access to college instruction.

The foundation secured the funding to build and operate an institution of higher education, and, since 1962, has remained strongly committed to the success of the Lake Campus.

St. Marys Knights of Columbus Council 1592, a long-time supporter of Wright State University-Lake Campus, continues to contribute a $150 book scholarship every year. This is a matching scholarship so the Western Ohio Educational Foundation matches that sum that gives a Lake Campus student a total award of $300. This award may be used to purchase books and/or supplies at the Barnes & Noble bookstore located at the Lake Campus.

Recipient of the award this year is Stephanie Jenkins of St. Marys. Jenkins earned an associate’s degree in history in 2011 and is currently majoring in English literature at the Lake Campus. Jenkins, who is considering a career in teaching, is married with two young children at home.
