Local ‘Day of Prayer’ activities listed

“Prayer is synonymous with change,” says Pastor Paul Hamrick, coordinator for the Van Wert County “National Day of Prayer” event.

“If we are expecting to turn the tide of family breakdown, crippling addictions, increasing immorality and random acts of horrific violence, as we just witnessed in the Boston bombings, God’s people need to seek His face,” Pastor Hamrick noted. “God is calling His people, in accordance with 2 Chronicles 7: 14, to join in prayer to bring much needed change in the heart of America; no longer can we stand by idle and watch America morally, economically, and socially implode before our eyes.”

Area residents who believe “there is a God in heaven who answers the prayers of His people, when they humble themselves”, need to put “feet to their faith” and come together on May 2 for the National Day of Prayer events in the Van Wert area.

The Steering Committee for the local National Day of Prayer is encouraging area residents to come together for prayer at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Vantage Career Center, 818 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert.

The seven areas of influence that will be the focus of prayer are businesses, churches, families, government, media, military, and schools.

Pastor Hamrick and the Steering Committee are encouraging individuals representing businesses, churches, families, government, media, military, and schools to attend. In addition, the Van Wert Ministerial Association is sponsoring a noon prayer event at the courthouse on Main Street in Van Wert for those who can attend during the noon hour.
