Paulding woman killed in traffic crash

Ohio State Highway Patrol news

CECIL — A Paulding woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on U.S. 127 in Paulding County.

Julie Miler, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office from injuries received in the crash, which occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to troopers from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Miler was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue north on U.S. 127, just north of Township Road 126 in Crane Township, when she attempted to pass a 1990 Cadillac Deville operated by Joshua Finfrock, 28, of Paulding, who was also northbound.

As Miler began to return to her lane of traffic, her car reportedly collided with the front of Finfrock’s car, sending both vehicles off the right side of the highway. Finfrock’s car drove into a field before hitting a tree, while Miler’s vehicle hit a utility pole and overturned, also coming to rest in a field.

Miler was thrown from her vehicle when it hit the utility pole, while Finfrock and a passenger in his car, Joseph Vance, 27, of Paulding, were not injured.

Assisting troopers at the scene were the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Cecil Fire Department and Paulding Fire and EMS.

The accident remains under investigation.
