Leslie L. Brown Sr.

Leslie L. Brown Sr. of Van Wert died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born September 16, 1930, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of the late William H. and Alice (O’Day) Brown. On June 5, 1954, in Angola, Ind., he married Roxie L. (Brown) Brown, who survives in Van Wert.

Survivors include four children, Lucinda S. (John V.) Wallace of Van Wert, Jenny A. (Mark) Nofer of Van Wert, Leslie L. Brown Jr. of Van Wert and Dwayne C. (Pamela I.) Brown of Van Wert; two half-brothers, Ed Brown and Justus O’Day; four granddaughters, Emily L. Wallace of Columbus, Jill N. (Lucas R.) Welch of Decatur, Ind., Katlyn A. Nofer of Van Wert and Heather A. Nofer of Van Wert; two grandsons, Joshua C. Brown and Jeremy D. Brown, both of Van Wert; and three great-granddaughters, Hayley K. Schlatman, Olivia N. Welch and Veronica A. Osborn.

A brother, Max O. Brown, preceded him in death.

Mr. Brown owned and operated Brown’s TV Sales & Service for 38 years with his son, Leslie Jr. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a life member of American Legion Post 178 of Van Wert, and also belonged to Amvets Post 698 in Middle Point, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1320 in Van Wert, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7803 in Van Wert, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 57 in Van Wert, VFW National Homes for Children in Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Voiture 154, 40 et 8 in Van Wert. He loved woodworking, fishing and camping.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at American Legion Post 178, with military services conducted by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and VFW Post 5803. The Rev. Paul W. Miller will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

There will be calling hours.
