VWHS band plans state contest concert

The Van Wert High School Music Department will present a concert Wednesday, May 1, at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center. The concert will be in preparation of the VWHS Symphonic Band’s upcoming state contest appearance. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

This informal event will give the band an opportunity to perform its contest pieces for a live audience before traveling to state contest on Saturday. The band will also present a sight-reading presentation by performing a piece that band members have never seen. Sight-reading is one-fourth of the contest final rating.

The public is encouraged to attend this free concert. The VWHS Concert Choir will also perform at state contest on Saturday, but was unable to take part in this preview performance.
