Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach announced that his office recently participated in the federal Drug Enforcement Agency’s national “Drug Take Back Initiative – the sixth time the county law enforcement agency has participated in the program.

A total of 80 pounds of prescription drugs were turned into the sheriff’s office during the initiative, Sheriff Riggenbach said, adding that his office will continue to accept prescription drugs for disposal.

Van Wert County residents who have unwanted, unused or expired medications that need to be disposed of can bring them to the sheriff’s office, 113 N. Market St. in Van Wert, at any time.
