VWHS band announces spring concert

VWHS Symphonic Band news

On Tuesday, May 14, the Van Wert High School Symphonic Band will present its annual spring concert. The free concert will be held in the Saltzgaber Music Hall of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Music for this concert will be a combination of music from the recent state contest performance, as well as new selections chosen specifically for this concert. Featured music will include state contest selections “Serenade”, “Shine” and “Arabesque,”, while the band will be adding a multi-media piece called “Paper Cut” by Alex Shapiro and “Dusk” by Steven Bryant.

Several of these selections will be accompanied by a light show designed by talented senior Matt Saunier. Following a senior recognition, the concert will close with the Van Wert High School Alma Mater.

Following the spring concert, the band will begin preparing for its final performances of the year at the Peony Parade and VWHS graduation, as well as the transition into next school year.
