Lincolnview softball news
SPENCERVILLE — The Lincolnview Lancers traveled to Bearcat country and, in dramatic fashion, again won a key Northwest Conference battle.
After being tied 7-all through seven innings, the Lancer hitting attack put up a five-spot in the top of the eighth inning and then blanked Spencerville in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Leading hitters for Lincolnview included Kaitlyn Brant, who was 4 for 5 with a three-run home run, while Macey Ashbaugh was 3 for 4 with three RBI, Jodie Doner was 2 for 6 with a triple and Julia Thatcher and Kelsey Mohr each contributed two hits to the Lancer offensive attack.
Ashley McClure picked up the victory for Lincolnview on the mound, going the distance and scattering 11 hits while giving up six earned runs. She is now 13-2 on the year, while the Lancers are 6-1 in league play and 14-2 overall.
The losing pitcher for the Bearcats was Torrey Johnston, while Spencerville is now 5-11 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Lincolnview will host Columbus Grove today in another key NWC match-up. The Bulldogs are 5-2 in league play.
