Lancers, Panthers win sectional games

The Lincolnview Lady Lancer softball team defeated Spencerville 6-2 in Division IV sectional action on Saturday at Lincolnview.

The Lancers scored two runs in the first inning, single runs in the third and fourth stanzas and two more runs in the fifth inning en route to the victory.

Ashley McClure was the winning pitcher, going the distance and allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, a base on balls and five strikeouts in seven innings. Lady Bearcat Alex Shumate was the loser for Spencerville, giving up six runs (five earned) on 12 hits, while walking one and striking out five.

Jodie Doner and Baylee Neate both had doubles in the game for Lincolnview, with Doner having three hits total in the game, along with two stolen bases. Julia Thatcher also had three hits, Neate and Devann Springer each had two hits in the contest.

Lincolnview will play Crestview on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the sectional finals.

In the other game on Saturday, Parkway downed Delphos Jefferson 12-0. Sierra Fent was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panthers, while Taylor Branham took the loss for Jefferson.

Ashlynn Henderson had a home run for Parkway, while Rachel King had three hits and two RBI, Terra Walls had two hits and three RBI, Henderson had three RBI and Zoey Pond had two RBI.

Parkway will face Ottoville on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
