Lancers edge C’view for softball title

Crestview ace Terra Crowle pitched a five-hitter and gave up only one run in Tuesday’s Division IV sectional softball championship at Lincolnview, but the Lancers’ Ashley McClure (14-3) went one better, allowing no runs on a three-hit masterpiece that provided the Lancers (16-3) with a 1-0 win over the defending state champion Lady Knights (13-9).

Lincolnview got the only run it needed in the top of the fifth when Julie Doner smacked a Crowle changeup into center field for a single and pinch runner Courtney Gorman scored from second base.

The Lady Lancers will now play the winner of a sectional championship game between Columbus Grove and Continental in a Division IV district semifinals game at Elida on Wednesday, May 22, starting at 5 p.m.
