Lincolnview track and field news
SPENCERVILLE — The Lincolnview varsity track teams competed in the NWC meet this past Thursday and Saturday held at Spencerville.
The Lancers came away from the meet with four NWC champions: the boys’ 4×800-meter relay (Kade Carey, Jeff Jacomet, Ben Bilimek, Bayley Tow) placed first in a time of 8:23; the girls’ 4×100-meter relay (Taylor Miller, Sarah Harris, Kaylee Thatcher, Haley McAbee) placed first in a time of 52.7. McAbee won the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 4¾ inches; and Tow placed first in the 3200-meter run with a near track record and school record time of 10:02.
“Both teams had a great day; they really competed with a lot of fight and because of how they approached the meet, we saw a lot of career bests,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “This group has been great all season and they really are passionate about doing well.
“It is fun to coach a group of kids with that kind of attitude and I was happy to see all the smiles as good things kept happening,” Langdon added. “We hope that this will give us momentum as we head into tournament and try to qualify kids to the regional and state meets.”
